Haw Haw Herbal infusion – known locally as the Hawu Hawu tea. Tucked away in the coastal region of the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa in the Ntshatshongo Tribal Community region of the Gatyana District, the Haw Haw Herbal infusion (Phyla dulcis) has been used for centuries as a soothing, comforting and calming herbal health herbal tonic.  Unknown to many that this plant, Phyla dulcis, not only grows in South (Latin) America, but is also found in South Africa. The plant has a very pleasant and soothing peppery taste to calm you down on hot days, but also to warm you up during those cold and chilly days. Traditionally used for a variety of ailments such as coughs, colds, bronchitis, asthma, indigestion, skin problems, and colic, the Haw Haw plant is seen as a treasure for your health.  Chew the flowers or place the crushed flowers directly on the gum to ease a toothache. The dried leaves can be used as a sugar substitute, as they contain a natural sweetener, Hernandulin.  Hernandulin is 1500 times sweeter than sugar cane and is naturally low in calories.
