The UFS DSI TIA Pharmacology IKS platform – known as the African Medicines Innovations and Technologies Development (AMITD) – has been established in 2021 after careful consideration of the work conducted on the pharmacology of traditional medicines by the Department of Pharmacology at the University of the Free State.  AMITD is therefore a continuation of the pharmacology research and drug discovery, development and production of finished final products – based on standardized herbal, extract concentrates and pure isolated phytochemicals developed through basic and clinical development for market approval by the medicine’s regulator.
